Program of Study Requirements

Timelines

Your Program of study should be submitted to the Graduate School by the end of your second semester.

Complete the Program of Study form and submit it to Joan Hagedorn, Graduate Coordinator in the main office.

Once your Program of Study is signed by the Associate Chair of the department you will be sent an e-mail to pick it up to take to the Graduate School.

Committee Members

Three core committee members are required for your program.  All must be tenure track faculty with Washington State University.  Two committee members must be from the Biological Systems Engineering department.  Your third committee member can be from another department.

Additional committee members may be added if you wish.  You must be able to show how they are relevant to your program by submitting a resume for any committee members who are either adjunct faculty to WSU or are affiliated with industry.  The number of committee members is up to you, but we suggest not more than four.

Credits Required

Master’s Degree, Thesis Option

Must include 21 graded core courses, 6 credits can be 300-400 level courses.

Include BSysE 598 Seminar credits and BSysE 700 credits in section II of the form.

Total credits must be at least 30 as required by the graduate school, but can be more.

Master’s Degree, Non-Thesis Option

Must include 27 graded core courses, 9 credits can be 300-400 level courses.

Include BSysE 598 Seminar credits and BSysE 700 credits in section II of the form.

Total credits must be at least 30 as required by the graduate school, but can be more.

PhD Degree

Must include 15 graded core courses, 500 level courses only.

Include BSysE 598 Seminar credits and BSysE 800 credits in section II of the form.

Total credits must be at least 72 as required by the graduate school, but can be more.
